During a visit from optometrist and philanthropists from the USA, our children and staff at Pestalozzi Zambia received free eye exams.
Dr Simona Toader, and her husband, Marius, opened a temporary clinic at the Village to give our children vital eye examinations.
They received a very warm welcome when they arrived at our Village, and during their stay managed to see 70 students and staff for eye exams, and prescribed 29 sets of glasses that will be manufactured and shipped from the USA.
Simona, describes herself as ‘an optometrist by training, but a humanitarian by heart!’
She and her husband had visited Zambia in the past, helping various other children’s organisations and offering free eye exams. They were keen to continue their humanitarian efforts in Zambia, when their good friend, Jack Wehner, recommended Pestalozzi World to them, as the charity he supports.
Simona said: “It gives us great joy to be able to bless your community with much needed eye examinations, and we look forward to building on this relationship in the years to come.
We intend to provide eye examinations for your Zambia Village once every 2 years.“

We are hugely grateful to Simona and Marius for their incredibly generous support in such a vital and practical way, ensuring all our children have healthy eyesight for their studies and their lives.
We would also like to thank Jack Wehner, for introducing us and for his generosity in donating towards the glasses that are being shipped from the USA to our students.
Simona added: “Thank you for your heartfelt hospitality and for showing us all that your hard work has accomplished in such a short amount of time. We left utterly impressed and inspired by the team effort displayed and with all your gifted students.“
We look forward to welcoming Simona and Marius back to our Zambian Village again soon, and thank them greatly for their support.
